The Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Welsh Rugby Union has teamed up with The Duke of Edinburgh's Award to enhance the opportunities available in its clubs and offer young people the chance to gain a nationally recognised award. Did you know that Wales's own Alun Wyn Jones has completed the DofE Gold Award?

Doing Your DofE

There are lots of different ways that you can complete your DofE within the WRU and its member clubs. As well as playing rugby you can also volunteer, for example as a coach or referee, by fundraising for your club or writing articles for your club website or social media.

For more ideas simply download our electronic guide to completing the DofE's Volunteering section with your rugby club (left). For a welsh translation, click here.

Club GuideSupporting Young People Doing The DofE

There are significant benefits to be found, both on and off the field, by supporting young people doing their DofE. You can increase participation in club activities, generate publicity, raise the profile of your club and create sustainability for the future. Young people undertaking their Bronze, Silver or Gold DofE Awards require an adult to act as an 'Assessor' to support them along the way and confirm they have completed the requirements for each section.

To find out more about how you can support a young person to achieve their DofE Award please download our electronic guide (right). For a welsh translation, click here.

If you would like any more information behind any aspect of the DofE please don't hesitate to contact either the WRU or DofE with any queries you might have.
