A former Royal Navy and Neath prop who gained four caps for Wales in 1975. He coached Neath with great success, but resigned the club job to concentrate on Wales.

After a disastrous tour to Australia where Wales suffered a record defeat against NSW by 71-8 in 1991, he retired through ill health.
