A Wales, London Welsh and Lions centre, John Dawes skippered London Welsh between 1965-1971 and Wales in six of his 22 matches between 1963-1972. Dawes also captained the Lions in all four tests of their winning tour to New Zealand in 1971.
As Wales Coach he won the Grand Slam and landed the Triple Crown four years in a row from 1975-79. Coached the Lions to New Zealand in 1977. Became WRU Coaching Organiser 1980 until 1990.
