Maesteg born, Mark Davies has been involved with the Wales National Squad set up since 1991 and joined the Welsh Rugby Union as a full-time member of staff in August, 1999.

Davies won three caps as a Wales player between 1981 and 1985 making his debut against Australia in December 1981 and his final appearance against Fiji in November 1985. He bagged a Five Nations start against Ireland in 1982 along the way and made a fourth appearance for Wales in a non-capped match between a Wales XV and Japan in October 1983.
