It was always going to be a tough ask for Darren Edwards side facing the Cherry and Whites who are the form team over the border, having not lost since New Year's day in any competition, but they did not have it all their own way.
The Dragons scored three tries of their own but Gloucester's pace told out wide and the hosts went into the break 17 v 0 ahead after tries from Andy Hazell, Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu and Welshman Nicky Robinson, who also kicked five conversions throughout the afternoon.
The large crowd at Kingsholm were treated to seven second half tires, four of which went to Gloucester wing Charlie Sharples.
Adam Jones, Aled Brew and Jevon Groves all crossed for the Dragons.
