Reigning champions Pontypridd comfortably beat Cross Keys 28-3, but Cardiff started their new season with a crushing home defeat at the hands of Llandovery at the Arms Park.
The 21-year-old Chris Knight stole the show for the visitors, scoring two tries for the as the Drovers ran away with a 48-22 triumph. Other tries for Llandovery came from Lee Rees, Phil Day and Gareth Brookes, while Ruben Tucker crossed twice for Cardiff and Matt Smith got a third.
Bedwas had to come from behind to defeat Camarthen Quins 22-16, while Newport had two-try wing Elliot Frewen to thanks for their 23-20 victory at Aberavon. Neath won their local derby against Swansea 23-9 with tries from Tom James, Dai Langdon and Elliot Jones
