And Dragons chief executive Mike Jenkins is looking to build on the exciting developments in Newport.
"There is a palpable sense of excitement around the place," he told the Western Mail.
"These are exciting times here at Rodney Parade.
"I've spoken to some of the senior players who have been here a long time and they've been promised many things over the years.
"But there is a palpable sense that this is a region that's moving places, that's on the up.
"We have got to convert on the pitch now.
"People aren't going to use the facility unless they are enjoying what they watch on the pitch.
"We want that to be the case not just for one or two matches but consistently over the whole of the season.
"We know there is support.
"Eight years ago, there were 8-10,000 people turning up on a regular basis to Rodney Parade and we want to ensure that those days come back to us."
