Welsh Rugby Union : Newsroom : Gogledd Cymru get second chance

Gogledd Cymru under 16s and 18s get a second shot at the WRU Regional Championship this weekend when they entertain the Scarlets at Bethesda (kick off both matches 2.30pm).

Having been beaten by the Blues and Blues South respectively over the first weekend of competition last month, the North's games against the Dragons were called off last weekend due to the inclement weather.

However, they are back on track this weekend with two particularly difficult games against the Scarlets.

Team manager for the North, Will Morecombe, said; "We are delighted to be part of the competition and delighted to be entertaining the Scarlets this weekend.

"Obviously we had a tough time against the Blues on that first Sunday, but to be fair, I thought the boys fought courageously and we are certainly looking forward to going to Bethesda and taking on the Scarlets."

The Scarlets have enjoyed mixed fortunes in their games to date - the under 16s defeated the Ospreys 41-15 at Stradey Park but went down 34-17 at Blues North, whilst the under 18s lost 14-7 at home to the Ospreys in their opening game before seeing their game at the Blues abandoned after 48 minutes when they were leading 13-0.

Wrexham have won the SWALEC National League Division 3 title, having topped the table with 83 points, eight points ahead of their nearest challenger Menai Bridge.
