Rhodri Morgan said: "We all remember the great atmosphere in Cardiff and right across Wales following the Welsh team's Grand Slam triumph in 2005. The 2007 Rugby World Cup is a wonderful opportunity for the Welsh team to get back to a high level of success and create the momentum for triumph on a world stage.
"The squad has a demanding task ahead of them over the next few weeks but this team has a lot of talent and a lot of heart. What I do know is that they have the whole-hearted support of everyone in Wales.
"With Nantes being twinned with Cardiff, I'm sure that the Stade de la Beaujoire will feel like a second home for the team for their two matches there.
"Finally, I just want to wish Gareth, Alfie and the boys "Pob lwc" or "bonne chance" for a very successful World Cup campaign."
Ieuan Wyn Jones told the players: "To represent your country on the international stage in a competition of this magnitude is a tremendous honour. You are ambassadors for your sport and for this nation and we appreciate your commitment and dedication. The people of Wales are behind you one hundred percent. Good luck."
Wales kick-off their World Cup campaign with a game against Canada in Nantes on Sunday September 9th.
