At the other end of the league pyramid, Llanharan scrum-half Craig Burton scored twice to secure a 23-19 victory over Blackwood in the only game of the weekend in ASDA League One. Two tries from left wing Trevor James were not enough to relieve the threat of relegation for Blackwood as Burton and back-row Aled Llewellyn scored Llanharan's tries and fly-half Ross Pearce added thirteen points with the boot.
Abergavenny boosted their hopes of staying up in ASDA League Two East with a crucial 22-10 home win over Ynysybwl. The Monmouthshire club are now four points clear of bottom club Croesyceiliog, who went down fighting 33-24 to Tredegar, for whom Craig Lewis scored a brace of tries and Gareth Kearney kicked nineteen points.
Jason Alford capped a man-of-the-match performance for Llantrisant with two tries as the league leaders saw off Mountain Ash 24-16 to stay six points clear of the chasing pack, Rumney, Rhydyfelin and Treherbert, who all won.
Penalllta remain top of ASDA League Four East thanks to four tries from James Powell in their ten-try rout of New Tredegar, running out 68-19 winners. Michael Burke of second-place Newport HSOB also ran in four tries in their 52-0 hammering of Abercarn.
ASDA League Three South-East leaders Pencoed crashed to only their second defeat of the season at Tonyrefail following early scores from Huw Morris and Scott Nicholas. ASDA League Four East leaders Garndiffaith extended their unbeaten run to ten games with a 36-9 defeat of Talywain while Llandaff won their derby clash against neighbours Llandaff North 34-5.
Cardiff HSOB moved out of the relegation zone in ASDA League Four South-East with a vital 30-15 home win over Dowlais.
