The DVD, entitled Wales Life on Tour - Dragons, Pumas and Other Animals is an exclusive look at life on tour with the Welsh rugby squad. Gareth Jenkins and his coaching team have embarked on their journey towards the 2007 World Cup and the summer tour of Argentina 2006 was the first opportunity for coaches and players alike to stake their claim. Other great steaks were also on the menu and the team made history by playing a Test match in Patagonia - the first ever - where the welcome offered by the Welsh colony was extraordinary.
Whale-watching was a welcome distraction for the players who had the tough task of facing the Pumas twice in a week - and the fascinating DVD gives an intriguing insight into how the players live together while on tour. The 75 minute DVD includes the highly acclaimed S4C programme 'Cymru yn yr Ariannin' (Wales in Argentina) along with 50% more English language footage including exclusive post-tour interviews with coach Gareth Jenkins and tour captain Duncan Jones. The DVD will be released across other retail outlets from early December.
Along with the rousing performance of the national anthem, the CD - produced by Sain (Recordiau) Cyf Wales - also contains exclusive tracks of Cwm Rhondda 'Queen style' (better known to many rugby fans as Bread of Heaven) - sung by world renowned opera stars Bryn Terfel and Rhys Meirion in both Welsh and English.
NSPCC Cymru/Wales Full Stop Campaign Manager Carol Gillanders comments on this fantastic fundraising gesture: "We're delighted that such talented stars chose to support the NSPCC in this way, Welsh rugby fans are so passionate and patriotic, I'm sure this CD will find its way into every rugby mad household in Wales.
The CD will be available in well known record stores across Wales from Monday along with the WRU Online shop (www.wru.co.uk) and at the Millennium Stadium shop. It will also be available at the Invesco Perpetual Series matches at the Millennium Stadium next month.
Special thanks go to the Six Nations committee, Universal Classics and the artists themselves for their help and involvement with this production.
In addition to the CD which will raise funds for NSPCC Cymru, the WRU will soon announce a whole host of activities to support Children in Need - taking place this year on the evening of November 17th which co-incides with Wales v Canada at the Millennium Stadium.
