"As the Wales Team Captain Gareth Thomas quite clearly explained on television on Sunday night, the team needs to be able to clearly focus on the task ahead of them in Ireland on Sunday.
"I am hoping that this meeting, allied to our normal board meeting this Thursday will allow us to draw a line under the situation. The Board has already met once to go through in fine detail the procedures adopted leading up to Mike Ruddock's decision not to renew his contract. And it was the unanimous decision of the Board at that time that everything was in order.
"Whilst tonight's meeting is important, it is vital that as a Union and a nation that we give our full backing to the Welsh team and management as they prepare for the next phase of their defence of the RBS Six Nations title.
"I know that Gareth Thomas and his team will be seeking to build on their fine victory over Scotland when they run out at Lansdowne Road on Sunday for what is a crucial fixture."
Mike Ruddock will meet with the 18-man WRU Board of Directors at 4.30pm on Tuesday, 21 February.
David Pickering added, "Mike requested a meeting with the full Board of Directors and I was happy to oblige. I wrote to the board members on Friday informing them of the meeting.
"Mike has not told me exactly what it is he wants to say, or what he expects out of the meeting, but it will be useful to hear his side of a story that has obviously stirred up so much emotion."
