Cardiff Blues second row Robert Sidoli has been ruled out of the selection debate ahead of Wales's Invesco Perpetual Series clash with New Zealand this Saturday and will be out of action for eight to ten weeks due to the need for corrective surgery on his shoulder.
"Robert has had problems with his shoulder which we have been managing for a period of time but he has now aggravated it to the extent that surgical intervention is required," said Davies. "The injury is no longer responsive to conservative treatment and it is in the player's best interests to undergo surgery which should see him in recovery for eight to ten weeks."
Meanwhile, Wales captain and Llanelli Scarlets fly-half Stephen Jones joined Ospreys centre Gavin Henson in taking a full part in training today after injury, although Ospreys centre Sonny Parker hasn't trained today due to a groin problem.
"Stephen has responded well to an extended period of rest and should be able to take a full part in preparations ahead of the New Zealand game," added Davies. "Gavin's toe problem has also cleared up well, meaning he has been able to train fully and we don't anticipate any recurrence of that particular issue."
"However, Sonny was prevented from taking a full part in training today with a groin strain; he will have a run out tomorrow morning in order for us to further assess his progress."
