Wales Women got their first victory in their Six Nations Campaign as they travelled to Limerick to play Ireland on Saturday.
Wales started brightly and put two tries on the board through winger Hayley Baxter, the first after just 2 minutes. Determined defence led to a turn over for Baxter's second try, both of which were converted by debutant fly half Stacey Saunders to give Wales a 14-0 lead at the break.
Ireland had the advantage of the wind in the second half and pulled back 13 points as Wales struggled to get out of the half as the Irish threw everything at Wales. Well led by captain Melissa Berry and with scrum half Cath Walkey having her best game in a Welsh shirt, Wales defended well enough to deny Ireland their first ever victory against the Welsh.
Wales now face France at the Cardiff Arms Park on 5th March. (7.15pm KO)
