It was goodbye to this season's cup to former giants Treorchy, Tredegar and St Peter's as teams from the West put them out.
Ystalyfera had to thank Darren James, whose try and four penalties, plus a Simon Chatham try put out Treorchy 22-17, while Penclawdd kicking secured a 22-15 win at St Peter's and Waunarlwydd gained a 22-10 success at Tredegar.
Four Gareth Williams penalties gave Tylorstown a 12-1 home win over Ruthin; three tries by Grant Morris helped Llanishen win 21-6 at Pontllanfraith and there was a superb performance by Rhymney full back Geraint Hodges.
Rhymney won 35-16 over Glyncorrwg as Hodges scored three tries and had a hand in those by Mike Roberts and Matthew Chard, despite a spirited effort by Glyncorrwg, for whom prop Steve Ludlow scored a try.
Most of the results went to league form, but Gorseinon, who won a league match over Trimsaran on Thursday, went out at Pontycymmer and Rumney almost blew it at Maesteg Celtic, just getting in by 18-16.
LLaqntwit Fardre had a hero in four-try wing James Thomas as they went to Tumble and won 63-0 with a further seven tries, including three by fellow wing Adrian Lee.
Bethesda showed their usual cup form in the North as they beat Cardiff HSOB, but Fairwater just made it at Rhyl and Machen also edged home at Wrexham, while Llandaff had a splendid 45-5 success at Welshpool.
Pentyrch gained a 17-16 won over Vardre as centre Ryan Westaway scored two tries and Rob Lawson placed both conversions and a penalty.
Fly half Gareth Davies took Penallta clear from 20-all to defeat Ogmore Vale 30-20 as he kicked 15 points and added a try and tries by Richard Heath, Craig Anthony and Ryan Jenkins helped Bedlinog defeat Nantyffyllon 25-0.
Fly half Neil Woodward scored 15 points and Robbie Savage, Ian Withey and Chris King gained tries as Abercynon beat gae Dowlais 30-10 and tries by Matthew Price and Gareth Howells took Blaina through by 23-6 over Newcastle Emlyn.
All three University sides lost away and Welsh Districts Cup runners-up Caerleon went down at Llandybie, while non-league Glyncoch just fell after a mighty effort to Mumbles.
Loughor fought back from 7-32 to just lose 31-32 against Merthyr, while BP Llandarcy did well to hold Bargoed's win to 37-6.
One change from the results given out was at Llanrumney Park, where a score of 33-3 was given out as Old Illtydians defeating Trefil. It seems this was not so and indeed the Welsh District Cup holders Trefil won the match!!
