'I think we just caught them on a bad day,' Ravens chief executive Adrian Hadley said.
'We have beaten them three times this year, but they should have really won two of those. We are doing well in the League, though, and there's no reason we can't do the double this season.'
Bridgend go into the match without Tongan scrum-half Sililo Martens, who has a broken thumb, but inspirational centre Josh Taumalolo is back from injury.
Newport skipper Simon Raiwalui said: 'Bridgend are the form team at the moment - we were well and truly beaten by the better side last Saturday.
'We were beaten in all facets of the game, but we can hit back. And it would be great to do it on Saturday, because it's at the Millennium Stadium and the Cup is such a great competition.'
