Wales punished the Irish when they failed to secure possession in their own half and good scrummaging by Wales put fly half Naomi Thomas through to score. Non Evans added another try ten minutes later which she converted giving Wales a 12-0 lead at the break.
Hooker Jamie Kift scored the only try in the second half, as Wales failed to capitalise on their possession. Ireland were unlucky not to score at the end but some superb defence from the Welsh girls held them up over the line. Wales now face France in Paris next weekend.
Backs coach Alun Harries commented after the game, "We always said that the game would be about our own performance, and we under performed. I'm happy that we got a result, but there are certain aspects of the game that I am disappointed with and we will be working on before we meet France next weekend."
