Ian Evans made his Wales debut in Puerto Madryn against Argentina in 2006, galloping in from 60m to score his first and only try for Wales.

He had first been called into the Wales set-up for the 2005 autumn series but was not used. Although Evans was born in Johannesburg, he was brought up in Aberdare and started his club career at Pontypridd, before going to the Ospreys.

Evans was part of the Wales Under 21 squad who won the Grand Slam in 2005. Evans had the misfortune of three injury-ravaged years with knee, chest and ankle problems.

But he stayed injury free for the beginning of the 2011/12 season to force his way back into Warren Gatland’s plans.
