Leigh Halfpenny had an eventful 2012 Six Nations campaign. He kicked Wales to victory in the final minute of the game at the Aviva Stadium against Ireland before picking up two tries, three conversions and two penalties for a personal haul of 22 against Scotland.
He picked up a yellow card against Italy but still managed to snare 11 points. He picked up another 11 against France to complete the campaign with 66 points.
After recovering from an ankle injury Halfpenny went on to play in six of Wales’s seven RWC 2011 games. He came on for James Hook at full back against Samoa to set up Shane Williams for the crucial score of the game.
He continued at full back for the rest of the tournament putting in a series of assured performances, scoring tries against Fiji and Australia.
Leigh made two appearances in the 2011 RBS 6 Nations as a wing, but prior to that his last Test appearance was against the All Blacks in Hamilton in the summer of 2010.
He scored a penalty on debut as a 19-year-old against South Africa in November 2008 but a series of niggling injuries have hindered him from making more cap appearances.
Alongside Keith Earls of Ireland, he was the youngest member of the 2009 Lions tour of South Africa but a recurrence of a thigh injury forced him home early.
