Alex Cuthbert made his international debut as part of Paul John’s Sevens squad, making an impression by scoring nine tries in his first two tournaments.
Cuthbert only took up rugby at Hartpury College at the age of 16, after previously spending his time playing football and specialising in the 400m on the track.
He was first spotted by Wales playing for a Marauders Sevens team in the Middlesex Sevens by Dragons flanker Craig Hill. His eye-catching form saw him invited to train with the Wales Sevens squad.
Cuthbert is currently studying Sports and Business Development at UWIC where he played for them in Swalec Division 1 before graduating to the Blues Academy.
Able to play at fullback and out wide, Cuthbert has become a regular on the right wing for the Blues this season.
