The PE teacher won 25 caps with Wales before taking a four year break. She was named player of the season in 2003-04. She was attracted to the game initially by the camaraderie, team spirit and the passion of her UWIC colleagues.
She became captain of the national side when she led Wales out for the first time against England at Cross Keys in the 2011 Six Nations campaign and gained her first win as skipper a week later against Scotland.
She missed the following Six Nations campaign after taking a year out to travel but returned for the beginning of the 2012 tournament.
