Cory began his career with Dinas Powys at full back as an 11 year-old. He stayed there until he joined Glamorgan Wanderers where he played for two seasons in the Under 18 side.

He played full back for Wales Under 18s before moving to the centre with Wales U20s. He was in the Welsh side which made history by becoming the first Welsh team to defeat New Zealand (9-6) at the Junior World Championship in South Africa in 2012.

He made his debut in the second round of competition on the IRB Sevens circuit in Dubai in 2012 as a replacement against New Zealand.
