A relative latecome to rugby, Adam played football until Under 17 level. A product of Ynysybwl, Adam took over the captaincy of the Wales Sevens midway through the 2012/13 season.
He lead Wales to the quarter-finals of the Rugby Sevens World Cup in Moscow in 2013 where they lost to eventual winners New Zealand.
He suffered a broken jaw in the first leg of the 2013 series in Australia to rule him out of the next two legs in Dubai and South Africa.
He switched his attention to regional rugby in the 2014/15 season with Cardiff Blues but returned to sevens in 2015 for the second leg of the World Series in Cape Town.
