George North made a huge impression at the RWC 2011, scoring two tries against Namibia and one against Fjii.
He ended up topping the statistics for most metres gained (509m) and defenders beaten (24). George took less than six minutes to announce his arrival on the international stage with the first of his two debut tries against South Africa.
That made him Wales’ second youngest try scorer after Tom Prydie. Injury forced him to miss the majority of the 2011 RBS 6 Nations, but he returned against France. George had burst onto the Welsh regional scene with the Scarlets in the 2010/11 season as an 18-year-old, scoring four tries in four games.
He made his regional debut in the pre-season friendly against Gloucester. George was born in King’s Lynn of a Yorkshire father and Welsh mother, qualifying him for both Wales and England. He moved to North Wales aged just two, and is a fluent Welsh speaker.
