Williams kicked a second-half penalty that proved enough to beat Edinburgh at Parc Y Scarlets. But wasteful Scarlets made hard work of this win over Edinburgh. Simon Easterby's team got off to a dream start when they stormed into an early eight-point lead.

Aled Thomas kicked Scarlets ahead on nine minutes before the fly-half's inside pass from a lineout, wrong-footed Hamish Watson and opened space for wing Andy Fenby to gallop past Fife to score in the corner. Edinburgh had only won one of their 14 previous trips to Wales but any thoughts of an early collapse were swiftly ruled out. Harry Leonard clawed back three points before his well-placed pass handed Fife an easy finish as Edinburgh struck back in style.

Leonard converted but fell short with a long-range effort though extended the lead just four minutes into the second half thanks to the opportunism of Richie Rees. The former Wales scrum-half charged down opposite number Gareth Davies and recovered possession to earn a penalty. Scarlets responded but struggled to find a scoring pass to break Edinburgh again after losing the battle at the breakdown. Thomas cut the deficit to 13-11 though Jonathan Edwards was judged not to have grounded the ball over the line by the video official.

Fife was binned on 61 minutes but replacement Williams missed his first three kicks before landing the fourth as Scarlets survived a late Edinburgh rally for the win
