The WRU Club Operations department is dedicated to providing advice and guidance to rugby clubs across Wales to ensure "off the pitch" viability and sustainability.

Safeguarding

Compliance and Operations Co-Ordinator

Responsibilities:

The WRU Compliance & Operations Co-ordinator has responsibility for a number of areas of business relating to safeguarding children and adults at risk, Elite Medical Queries and the development of the Rugby Communication System along with myWRU.

  • Co-ordinating volunteer and staff vetting through the WRU Safeguarding Referral Group
  • Engaging with clubs and providing advice and guidance regarding the Disclosure and Barring checks
  • Co-ordinating training and education for Club Safeguarding Officers, Coaches and other volunteers in relation to safeguarding
  • Manage the administration of the DBS Tracker System, Case Management, Safeguarding Referral Group and general safeguarding matters
  • Monitoring and administration of the Rugby Communication System whilst continually developing the system in accordance with the requirements of the individual disciplines and in line with the Participation Agreement

Policy & Integrity Manager

Responsibilities:

The WRU Policy and Integrity Manager has responsibility for a number of areas of business :

  • Operational lead for safeguarding children and adults at risk, anti-doping, betting and integrity, payment of players and other integrity issues
  • Managing safeguarding or child protection cases through the WRU Case Management Panel
  • Responsible for the delivery and implementation of the NSPCC National Safeguarding Standards
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the WRU anti-doping strategy
  • Responsible for the operational delivery of WRU anti-doping rules in line with UKAD and WADA policies
  • Provide advice and guidance to the Regions and Premiership on integrity issues

The WRU Policy and Integrity Manager works closely with other sports and organisations such as UK Anti-Doping, Sport Wales and the Child Protection in Sport Unit to develop best practice in anti-doping and safeguarding in sport. He represents the Lead Safeguarding Officers of Welsh Sport's National Governing Bodies on the Strategic Group for Safeguarding Children in Sport, and is also a member of the National Case Management Steering Group.

Responsibilities:

The WRU Safeguarding Co-Ordinator has responsibility for a number of areas of business relating to safeguarding children and adults at risk.

  • Managing any safeguarding or child protection cases through the WRU Case Management Panel
  • Liaison with Statutory Agencies i.e. Police, Social Services etc.
  • Managing volunteer and staff vetting through the WRU Safeguarding Referral Group
  • Engaging with clubs and providing advice and guidance regarding any safeguarding matters
  • Supporting Club Safeguarding Officers regarding the implementation of the WRU Safeguarding Policy
  • Co-ordinating training and education for Club Safeguarding Officers, Coaches and other volunteers in relation to safeguarding

Facilities & Investment Manager

Responsibilities:

The Project Development & Funding Advisor has responsibility for supporting Clubs in the following areas:-

  • Advising on funding opportunities and grant applications
  • Project Management
  • Facilities Development & Technical Guidance
  • Facilities Development & Technical Guidance
    Group
  • Delivery of Club Funding Workshops
  • Advice on statutory requirements including land ownership and planning consents

The role includes working with key strategic partners such as Local Authorities, external funding organisations and Governing Bodies of Sport to develop priority facility development projects that support the ongoing sustainability of clubs in Wales.

Responsibilities:

The Club Operations Funding Co-ordinator can provide the following support to clubs:-

  • Guidance on the WRU Facilities Grant
  • Ongoing support for Facilities Grant Projects, including Project Completion and undertaking Project Monitoring
  • Co-ordinating Funding Workshops for clubs
  • Provide assistance with Projects which require applications to Small/Local Grant Funding Bodies

The role aims to provide ongoing support to clubs who wish to develop their facilities further through the Facilities Grant or through other Funding opportunities, and to provide assistance to clubs who are in already in the process of upgrading their facilities.

Volunteer & Recruitment

Volunteer Development Manager

Responsibilities:

The WRU Volunteer Development Manager has responsibility for a number of areas of business relating to volunteer training & retention:

  • Advise clubs on proactive volunteer engagement and retention
  • Provide training to volunteers on systems such as MyWRU
  • Support clubs to access training opportunities for volunteers such as first aid
  • Deliver workshops aimed at up skilling volunteers in different areas of club management
  • Support clubs to activate succession planning
  • Increase communication with volunteers
  • Actively raise the profile of volunteering in rugby

The WRU Club Operations Advisor - Training & Retention also works closely with volunteers to establish ongoing training needs based on club requirements.

Elite Rugby Co-ordinator

Responsibilities:

  • To directly liaise with all National Team Managers to ensure compliance with competition regulations and contractual obligations contained within, but not limited to the Rugby Services Agreement and other such documents.
  • Responsibility for direct liaison with UK Borders Association and all relevant management and monitoring procedures
  • To act at the main point of contact with the Welsh Regions & Welsh Premiership in relation to the operational elements of the Rugby Services Agreement.
