A forward rush and feed saw Sera Bailey held up within inches of the try line but prop Emma Edwards took the released ball at pace to bulldoze her way to the line and record her first try in Caernarfon colours. Bailey brushed herself down to slot the conversion and tie the score.
This newfound belief led to the Cofis upping their game to prevent the home side from gaining any forward momentum. Such chasing soon paid dividends with the toe of Bailey nudging the loose ball through and then winning the chase to ground out wide.
Rhian Gwawr took good second phase ball, drew the cover and freed stand-off Bailey to score her second of the day, an effort she duly converted.
A mix up paved the way for the bonus point try that came to lively scrum half Jess Kavanagh as the fumbled link between them proved a blessing as she sprinted all of 30 meters to put the final score beyond doubt. Bailey again converted and try as they may, with Christie Thompson prominent, Blaenau Gwent failed to trouble the Cofis further although the final whistle sounded with another failed grounding that their effort had richly deserved.
Caernarfon followed that up with a convincing triumph against Gwernyfed.
Sera Bailey and Jess Kavanagh sprinted clear to score early tries but the visitors hit back by wing Katie Hugheson whose pace and power saw her sprint clear to score.
Scrum dominance paved the way for a further five pointer through the ever alert Alaw Davies. Lauren Hassett fresh from her morning 10k run tackled well but also ran out of defence to catch Gwernyfed cold. Bailey, who brimming with confidence split the cover to score out wide. On the approach of half time Caernarfon made the game safe Sera Bailey recording her third grounding of the day together with an added conversion.
Caernarfon were soon given a wake up call at the beginning of the second half. The kick off was fielded and on being switched wide Katie Hugheson repeated her first half feat by powering up field and leaving defenders in her wake to score her second try. Delyth Thomas added the extras.
In response Bailey knocked over a penalty following a period of Cofi pressure and were further rewarded when a Nia Tomos charge was halted on the try line only for Bailey once again to collect and plough over.
Gwernyfed game to the end with Lily Snape at the forefront of everything took a quick tap penalty attempt but on being penalised for holding on saw Jess Kavanagh take her opportunity to scarper all of 70 meters to touchdown. With all bar one wishing and praying for the final whistle it was Jess Kavanagh who once again broke from the back of the scrum to cap a fine individual performance and record her third try of the day.
Fellow half back partner in crime Sera Bailey added the extras to cross the fifty-point marker and with it bring down the curtain on a thriller that everyone from both sides had contributed so much towards.
