Two of the sides' current coaches, Patrick Horgan (Neath) and Paul John (Pontypridd) were the opposing scrum halves on that day, while the clubs have faced each other twice in the Cup final since then, Pontypridd winning by a point in 2006 and Neath lifting the trophy in 2008 after a 28-22 win.
Before the Cup final, Rhydyfelin take on Heol y Cyw at 3.15 in the SWALEC Plate Final, while Wattstown play Fishguard & Goodwick at 1pm to kick off proceedings.
