Gavin Lucas will lead Cardiff in the Blue and Blacks’ first Premiership home game of the season against Aberavon on Saturday.
The 29-year-old back rower deputises for new club captain Tristan Davies who is named among the replacements after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Cardiff’s starting line-up shows two changes, both in the pack, from the side that started in the 35-21 win at Cross Keys last week. Lucas replaces Chris Jones at flanker while Rhys Gill, who played 25 games for the Blue & Blacks last season to qualify for his First XV cap, comes in for Gareth Gunter at loose head prop.

Luke Evans, a Welsh exile from Queensland, is named among the replacements, along with Dan McShane, who is set to make his 91st  appearance for Cardiff after returning to the Arms Park from Neath.
