Duncan Jones is a relieved man after fears his Rugby World Cup injury jinx would strike again.
The Wales prop, who broke a leg in the 2003 tournament in Australia, damaged a shoulder in the 34-7 warm-up battering by France, raising doubts over his place for the tournament.

Last time around, Jones's Rugby World Cup was over when he broke his left leg in a Pool match against Italy in Canberra and prayed lightning would not strike again.

Jones said, "The shoulder is fine and there was no structural damage which was obviously the big worry. Even if it was a three-to-four week injury, that's your World Cup gone.

"It was sore at the time and I had a limited range of movement. We haven't done scrummaging as of yet, but as soon as it comes to that I'll be fine. I'm just glad to be back in contention.

"I'm not one of those who looks back at previous competitions thinking what might have been. That was then and that has gone. It's the last thing any player wants in the lead-up to such a great tournament and I'm just glad it wasn't anything serious in the long run."

Jones starts Wales's opening match against Canada in Nantes today on the replacements bench but if he does appear he will pack down against some familiar faces. Veteran props Rod Snow and Jon Thiel used to play in Wales for Llanelli and Newport respectively and have been named to face the Three Feathers.

Meanwhile, Duncan's namesake, Stephen, has been talking to the website about the squad's preparations for the Canada match.
