| David Francis Pickering won twenty-three caps for Wales between 1983 and 1987. He took in five Five Nations Championships after making his debut against England in the 1983 tournament and captained his country throughout his last two Championships. In total he captained Wales eight times which included a test match against Fiji in addition to his two Five Nations leading his country.
Pickering's involvement in the Wales set up continued after his playing career as Wales Team Manager during the Graham Henry era which saw him manage the team throughout the 1999 Rugby World Cup, ending during 2002 when Alan Phillips took over the position.
In 2003, he was elected to his current position as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Welsh Rugby Union.
