PENALTA WIN SILVER BALL FINAL
22 May 2005, 11:58 am
By WRU
Despite being 13-7 down, Penallta hit back to lead 24-13 at the interval and went on to win by 43-30 and take the Bowl for the first time in their history. It was a match viewed by a crowd of nearly 1,500, who rose to their feet on many occasions as they viewed some wonderful rugby in a match where nine tries were scored.

Penallta, only a probationery WRU club, had the man-of-the-match in prop forward Nicky Thomas, but centre Shaun Powell must have run him close. The Penallta pack however were the real match-winners.

Former Beddau player Scott Perry placed three penalties and converted tries by centre Danny Farrer, wing Jordan Rees and replacement lock Rhys Godwin for Rhydyfelin, fly half Gareth Davies notched a try, five conversions and a penalty goal for Penallta. The other five Penallta tries were scored by flanker Chris Harries (2), Powell and full back Karl Rees.

The Mid District Cup final will be held at Sardis Road on Wednesday (May 25) at 7.15pm when Division 1 club Beddau take on Abercynon from 2 East.
