Welsh Colleges continued their rich seam of form with a hard earned 12-0 victory over arch rivals England Colleges at Abercynon RFC.
The weather conditions ensured it was a tough afternoon as both teams made numerous mistakes. The home side spent the majority of the game camped in England’s half but dogged defence and excellent work at the breakdown prevented Wales from sticking to their gameplan.

The Welsh defence had to be on its guard at the English attack showed their potential by making a number of breaks but the home side held out until the break.

Skipper Amy Lawrence lead the pack well and deservedly scored the first try of the match. Yasmin Leung converted to give Wales a 7-0 lead.

A second try followed for Wales after a cross field kick by Leung was picked up by flying winger Jess McAuley who scored in the left hand corner.
Players of the match were Natalie Watkins (backs) and Kath Joseph (forwards) while there were also good performance from Amy Lawrence and Kerin Lake.

Coach Jenny Davies is confident Welsh Colleges can maintain their momentum when they play England Colleges in the return fixture at Cleve RFC on Friday.

"The girls and I are very determined to keep our 100% record this season against a dynamic English side. Again it is going to be a very physical game where England will try and spoil our game plan. We are praying for some dry weather so than we can play a fast and open game," said Davies.
