| MacLeod left Borders last season to play his rugby in Wales in an attempt to force his way back into the Scotland side.
After a string of impressive performances in the Magners League and the Heineken Cup, the lock has been selected in a squad which Head Coach Frank Hadden believes is the most competitive he could have selected.
MacLeod came on as a second half replacement last weekend in Scotland's victory over Ireland to take his tally to nine caps. Hadden said the second row caused him the biggest headaches when it came to selection but he has been impressed with MacLeod since he began playing at Stradey.
"I'm delighted Scott has made the Scotland team," said Scarlets Chief Executive Stuart Gallacher. "He had an outstanding season with us last season and he thoroughly deserves his selection."
Scotland begin their Rugby World Cup campaign in Saint-Etienne against Portugal on September 9th.
