Race for Life - Official Charity of Women's Rugby in Wales
Women's Rugby in Wales and Wales Women are proud to be able to continue their support of Cancer Research UK's Race for Life. Race for Life is a unique series of women-only, 5km walks or runs, raising money for research into the treatment, cure and prevention of cancer.
Each year, upwards of 450,000 women join Cancer Research UK's Race for Life, supported by Tesco, which celebrated its 14th Anniversary in 2007. In Wales 14 races took place with 46,600 women and girls participating.
For many women Race for Life is an annual occasion while for others it will be the first time they take part in an event of this size. Some are cancer survivors while others run or walk in memory or in celebration of family, friends or loved ones, making the race experience both emotional and inspiring. There is an overwhelming sense of pride and sisterhood and a great feeling that Race for Life is personal to the many women that join together to take part.
Organisers have been delighted by the support and commitment the Women's Rugby in Wales and latterly the WWRU have shown to Race for Life over the past three years, taking part and helping at events across Wales. Race for Life is about women pulling together to raise vital funds to cure cancer faster, including supporting the Welsh Cancer Trails Network.
The Charity's mark is displayed on the sleeve of the Wales Women's shirt and a commemorative pink jersey is also available recognising the relationship between the the team and the charity.
