| As Assistant Coach this year, Horgan has been an integral part of a highly successful coaching set up that currently sees the Steelmen positioned at the top of the Principality Premiership.
Marcus Russell, Club Chairman stated: “Patrick ticks all the boxes and is highly regarded throughout the game in Wales. We have great confidence in him, and are delighted he has taken up the position.”
Horgan’s current role of Assistant Player-Coach at the club will be undertaken by Will Thomas, who returns to Ebbw Vale after a three year spell at Cross Keys. Thomas will need little introduction to the Ebbw Vale faithful, he was a very popular and powerful presence in the back row and one of the success stories who improved immensely under the tutorship of Mike Ruddock in his time as Coach at the club.
Horgan and Thomas will form an exciting and youthful coaching partnership and, along with Conditioning Coach Gareth Walton, show that the Steelmen are already laying down a marker to maintain and improve upon this season's success in the 2007–2008 season.
