Four months after the horrific injury, Williams is back in full training under the guidance of Blues Conditioning Coach, Trystan Bevan. and enjoying the unique beauty of South Wales at the same time.

Williams has been on gruelling uphill runs to Cardiff’s fairytale Castle; Castell Coch, in an attempt to maximize the work on the upper part of the thigh and hip joints. The fullback says the hard work is paying off.

"The recovery is going well, I’ve just started running last week so everything is on course," said Williams. "The hill runs are a difficult way to start doing that but they are good for leg drive and therefore good for the hip. It’s just nice to be running again and working hard to get fit.

"The doctors are happy with the progress and it’s just a matter of building the strength and endurance back in to the leg."

Williams is hopeful of earning his place in the Blues squad for the Millennium Stadium match against the Ospreys, but first he must win his place in the first team. However with the RBS Six Nations in full swing, the Blues only have one league game away to Munster on March 2nd for Williams to oust Ben Blair from the fullback spot.

Williams remains positive: "My target for returning to play is the beginning of March and I’m on course for that. As long as everything goes well and the doctors and physio are happy and I’m satisfied with the recovery I can put myself forward for selection."

Williams is anticipating a tough match for the Blues when they take on their regional rivals in the EDF Energy Cup semi-final.

"The semi final game against the Ospreys is a huge match for us and everyone in the region is looking forward to," he continued. "It will be a tough match against a quality team but if we can get 26,000 supporters behind us at the Millennium Stadium; the way we did against Leicester Tigers, it will be a real boost to the boys."
