Alternative Training session for Neath Rugby boys
5 October 2006, 1:20 pm
By WRU
Neath rugby have been flexing their muscles ahead of their game against Maesteg in a rather unusual fashion, by loading beer onto a lorry which is set to travel to Chicago to give Americans a taste of Wales...
The Hurns brewery in Swansea are distributing their famous OSB beer throughout the states through an import company, and it is hoped that the beer will be on sale in bars by November. This is the first time that the Welsh brewery has taken their Bitter overseas and the business plans to send over their other three bitters within the next six months.

The Old Style Bitter has previously had its fare share of fame, being Bronze medalist at the CAMRA Great British Beer Festival 1999 and Runner-up at the CAMRA Champion Ale of Wales 1999. So it is hoped that the richly coloured malty bitter will be a roaring success in the USA.

Hurns Brewery  became Neath major sponsors for the 2006/07 season. The OSB beer has proved a hit with the fans, quickly becoming the best selling bitter in the clubhouse.

Head coach Rowland Phillips said: ‘We have a tough game on Saturday against Maesteg and we felt loading the lorry to help out the boys at Hurns was an ideal opportunity to get the team flexing their muscles in preparation for the big game. We are hoping if we win the game the boys will be rewarded with a few bottles of OSB as a thank you!’
