Wales skipper Colin Charvis lived up to Steve Hansen's faith in him by inspiring his French club to a crucial away victory on Sunday.
Wales coach Hansen has no problems with his captain plying his trade for second-division side Tarbes and has confirmed the veteran backrower is the favourite wear the skipper's armband during the Six Nations tournament.
Charvis scored a vital second-half try from a tap penalty as Tarbes pipped Aurillac 19-17 - Aurillac's first home loss of the season. The win moves Tarbes up to fifth in the table.
"We gained a precious win in conditions that were close to Welsh conditions," Charvis said. "The two sides were very close, but we dug deep to beat a team who create a lot of chances."
Tarbes' colourful president Jacques Tarrene added: "The win was essential for us - we did exactly what we needed to do. The fears about the effects the Christmas break would have were unfounded.
"Now I'm shouting it from the rooftops - we're going for the top of the table."
