Scrum half and captain Mike Harris claimed one of the tries as Waunarlwydd pipped Cwmllynfell 24-22 in West to make it a happy day fpr secretary Paul Phillips.

"We are not playing very well at the moment and have lacked consistency all season but it was good to come out on top in such a close game. Now we have to put a couple of wins together and then perhaps we will go on and play as I know we can."
Also on the score sheet for the winners were flanker Darryl Moore, lock Matthew Daniel and Chris Jones with Lee Jones slotting over a brace of conversions.

Dunvant moved closer to leaders Tonmawr after defeating Bridgend Athletic 24-11. Barry Roberts and Jamie Davies gathered a brace of tries apiece and Simon Jenkins converted two. In the other game in this section Pencoed beat Corus 23-11 with centre Ken Morris touching down twice.

Penygraig suffered their worst ever defeat when Llantrisant romped in 22 tries in a 150-3 rout in East. It was the fourth time this season that Penygraig have been hit by a century or more of points. Chief destroyer for the Black Army was outside half Jason Alford who crossed for two of the tries and added 20 conversions to amass a personal tally of 50 points. Replacement wing Martin Griffiths touched down five times and right wing Tom Botwood claimed a hat-trick as Llantrisant poured over the visitors line at will.

Division leaders Merthyr have been joined at the
top by Builth Wells who beat the Ironmen 22-13 at the Wern. George Jenkins, Richard Gealey and Tom Bain crossed for the Bulls and Chris Ower kicked the remaining points. Merthyr went down to 14 men when their prop was red-carded and they are now level on points with Builth but the mid Wales outfit have a game in hand.

Risca saw a half time lead of 15-5 disappear as Llantwit Fardre stormed through in the second period to win 24-18, Abercynon defeated Croesyceiliog 22-10 and Fleur de Lys beat Hirwaun 27-14 to remain in contention with the leaders.
