Ben Evans today joined the Wales Squad preparing to face France in the RBS Six Nations clash at the Millennium Stadium this Sunday, in place of the injured prop Adam Jones.

Jones, who incurred a 'capsular / ligamentous sprain' to his left ankle during the Ospreys' 18-15 victory in Munster on Friday, will be out of contention for the rest of the tournament and out of rugby for six weeks.

The twenty-four times capped Cardiff Blues tight-head, Evans, figured in the Wales Squad under Coach Steve Hansen during the Autumn internationals, but missed out on the Rugby World Cup this summer.

"Ben has been performing well for his region in recent weeks and now has the opportunity to reclaim his place in the squad," said Hansen. "Adam will be missed both on and off the field, but he is a young man and he will bounce back from this current setback.

"We are lucky to have Gethin Jenkins and now Ben who can come into the squad and do the job and we will be looking for both of them to take their chance."
