Wales finished in fourth place in the Championships that were held in France
last week. After gaining their second win of the season against Ireland -
this time it was even more convincing - there was a second defeat to England in
successive months, but a superb effort almost stole the game against
Scotland, failing by just one point.

May 2. WALES 24 Ireland 7 (Castres); England 73 Italy 7;
May 2. Scotland 32 Sweden 0; France 24 Spain 5.
May 5. Semi-final: England 37 WALES 3 (Toulouse).
May 5. Semi-final: France 25 Scotland 6 (Toulouse).
May 5. Plate: Spain bt Sweden; Ireland 14 Italy 5.
May 8. Plate: Ireland 20 Spain 12; Italy v Sweden.
May 8. Final: France 8 England 6 (Toulouse).
May 8. 3rd place: Scotland 11 WALES 10 (Toulouse).
