The fleet footed Cardiff Blues wing has shaken off a calf problem to beat Hal Luscombe for the number fourteen jersey at Murrayfield this weekend for what will be his forty-second cap. He believes he can now re-establish a winning partnership in a new-look back three alongside Shane Williams and Kevin Morgan.

"I'm very excited to be coming into this team. The side is playing a very exciting brand of rugby and scoring some great tries," said Williams. "There are some very dangerous runners but I would say the brand of rugby Mike (Ruddock) is bringing in suits everyone in the team.

"The power is also there and that is coming through in our defence. The work started on that about three years ago on our strength, power and fitness and it's becoming more and more evident with every game. Especially in the last twenty minutes against France."

Williams has only started two of Wales's last nine games following a string of injuries but has scored five tries in his last four starts and made a big impression on coach Mike Ruddock when he came off the bench in the second-half fight-back in Paris.

"I'm really enjoying my rugby again at the moment," he said. "It has been a bit frustrating this year with injuries. I had managed to stay free from problems over recent years but I've had three back-to-back this season. I'm happy with my fitness right now and I'm looking forward to facing Scotland."
