LLANDAFF NORTH 20 - 5 TYLORSTOWN
10 May 2006, 12:52 pm
By WRU
A tense fixture between the top two teams in the league always promised to be a hard fought battle.
Llandaff North forwards gained superiority early in the first half winning all the set piece.  This gave the backs a platform to work from, but strong defence kept North out with the score 0-0 at half time.

Possession continued to flow North’s way in the second half which enabled them to play the game in the oppositions half.  Quick ruck ball was produced to allow the backs to release winger Louise Steele to score her third try in only her second game for the club.

A penalty from Paula Mullen kept the score ticking over.  Tylorstown responded with some strong running, which resulted in a try for their Number 8.  This score spurred the North pack on to greater things with numerous pick and drives which earned a try for hooker Beth Kenure; this was converted by Paula Mullen.

Numerous injuries prevented any momentum to develop in the last quarter but a quick tap penalty was taken by Scrum Half Sarah Vivian who fed Number 8 Vikki Gaylard to crash over.  Final score 20-5 to Llandaff North.
