ASDA LEAGUE DIVISION ONE ROUND UP

Tries were few and far between in the division on Saturday, with Robinson's boot proving the difference in second-placed Beddau's 15-3 victory over fourth-placed Whitland. The win cements Beddau's top-two position, but they are eight points behind Bonymaen, who have two games in hand after beating Cwmllynfell 6-0 on Saturday.

"It was a very tight game, with both of us in the top four," Beddau manager Mike King said. "They played it quite tight, but they got penalised a bit and we took our kicks. Steve kicked five out of six and some of them were quite awkward. His kicking is getting better and better and it's proving crucial to us these days. He was our player of the day, and not just because of his kicking - he's very safe at the back as well. He's doing well considering he had to take over from a guy called Brett Davey."

King said the club were pleased with the win, but aren't making room in their trophy cabinet just yet. "You'd have to say that Bonymaen are up and away," he admitted. "They've only lost one game all season and we've lost something like seven, so it looks like the title is theirs."

Bonymaen outside-half Gareth Jones kicked the only points of a hard-fought match against Cwmllynfell, with Bonymaen flanker Ewan Hopkins and Cwmllynfell centre Darryl Herbert both finding themselves in the bin.

Narberth had no problems scoring five-pointers, with winger Josh Freeman grabbing two of his club's four tries in a 29-6 win over Llanharan. Outside-half Tom Lewis added a try of his own and kicked four goals.

In the only other Division One match played on Saturday, third-placed Newbridge needed a penalty try to make sure of their 12-0 win over strugglers Ystrad Rhondda. Flanker Chris Jones scored the other try for the winners.
