WALES SCHOOLS NARROWLY MISS OUT TO ENGLAND

WALES SCHOOLS 22 - 24 ENGLAND SCHOOLS
Welsh coaches Nicky Lloyd and Bob Newman were bitterly disappointed with the defeat. Under the watchful gaze of Mike Ruddock, whose son Rhys operated at lock, Wales led 10-0 after eight minutes - all the points coming from skipper, fly-half Dan Biggar (Gowerton CS) with a try, conversion and penalty.

Wales looked in control before a slashing break from Alex Hurst turned the game upside down just before the break. The centre put replacement full-back Tom Casson over for a converted try to leave England just 10-7 down and, although Dwr Y Felin CS centre Ashley Beck crossed early in the second half and Biggar converted, the bulkier England forwards started bossing the contact area.

A penalty from Clegg and converted try from flanker George Swinburne tied the scores. In injury-time Hurst skinned Beck for England's third converted try before Welsh full-back James Loxton (Mary Immaculate HS) went over in the seventh minute of injury-time.

All depended on the conversion but Biggar's kick was well wide to end a bad day.
