Wales Sevens Coach Gareth Baber says the tough pool draw in the Adelaide Leg of the IRB Sevens World Series can only be good for his side’s development.
Just 16 teams, instead of the usual 24, will compete in this weekend’s competition meaning the competitiveness of each Pool is significantly ramped up.

Wales have been drawn with Tonga, Samoa, and Japan, and Baber knows it will be a real test to emerge from the Pool and into the Cup quarter-finals.

“It will be extremely tough and extremely physical,” he said. “This is the competitive level that we are at, and the players expect and respect that.

“They know they have to go in and fight for every point they can get.”
