Cowbridge Ladies travelled north-west to take on Lampeter on March 9th for the return leg of the fixtures between the two sides.
After a long bus journey west to Lampeter University the Cowbridge Ladies were in confident mood for this match. Sustained pressure early on and great line-out play by Cowbridge's Amy Jones resulted in an unconverted try for captain Suzy Gluck.

This was followed in quick succession by two tries from strong running centre Philippa Pembridge, both converted by Kathryn Criger. Solid defence by Gemma Harding and Jenna-Eve Allen kept Lampeter on the back foot.

Lampeter’s tactic of kicking down the slope worked in Cowbridge’s favour as they were able to run the ball back at them resulting in tries from wing Jo Clarke (celebrating her 18th birthday with style), scrum half Jenny Morgan and debutant Lisa Morgan. Morgan controlled the game well from outside half and showed game awareness beyond her years.

Cowbridge were pleased to turn round at half time to play down the slope and were hoping for more tries, which probably would have come after some good initial runs from Hannah Lewis and Rebecca Porter. Unfortunately, one of these runs by powerful second row Rebecca resulted in a clash with the Lampeter outside half which needed the attention of a medic. Fortunately, the injury was not thought to be serious. Both sides clapped the girl off in the spirit of the game and all wish her a speedy recovery.

The long break stopped the flow of the game although there was time for a try from Rebecca Porter and a hat-trick try for Phillipa Pembridge, and Cowbridge's fullback finished the game with four conversions to her name.

Cowbridge Ladies' next home game is on Sunday March 16th versus Blackwood, kick-off 2.30pm.
