Cardiff will seek to retain second place in the Principality Premiership when they travel to Bridgend on Saturday.
To do so they will have to reverse a poor record at the Brewery Field where they have failed to win on four previous Principality Premiership visits. Last season they went down 5-14 but gained consolation with a 23-16 triumph in the Konica Minolta Cup semi-final on neutral ground at Sardis Road.

For Saturday’s match Head Coach Justin Burnell gives a senior debut to young centre Nathan Rees, a Blues U20 player from Ystrad Rhondda, who impressed with a hat-trick of tries in the friendly fixture against Dinas Powys last month.

Also returning to Blue & Black duty are Rhys Gill, in his 50th game for the club and region, and Ross Johnston, both of whom won Cardiff caps last season, while Roger Davies and Adam Whitney feature against their former club.

Cardiff: Roger Davies; Andrew Hutchings, Nathan Rees, Tristan Davies (captain), Ryan Howells; Gareth Davies, Owen Ruttley; Rhys Gill, Ross Johnston, Richard Cornock, James Down, Damian Welch, Gavin Lucas, Adam Powell, Adam Whitney

Replacements: Gary Horrigan, Gareth Gunter, Dafydd Rosser, Nick Hampson, Luke Evans, Craig Evans, Richard Jones ends
