| Cardiff Blues lock Scott Morgan will miss the start of the Magners League season after breaking a bone in his hand in the Blues 47-0 friendly victory over Pontypridd on Wednesday night.
The injury means the 28-year-old will miss the Blues' Magners League opener against the Ospreys at the end of this month.
However, Morgan is hopeful that he can recover in time for the region's trip to the Newport Gwent Dragons on September 7th. He said: "The team physio confirmed this morning that I've broken a bone in my hand.
"It is a blow, but I've just got to get my head down and work hard – the hand won't be put in plaster so luckily I'll still be able to train.
"I'll have another x-ray in three weeks, and if all is well I'll only be out of action for between three to six weeks. It looks like I'll miss the Ospreys game but it is possible I could be back for the Dragons match."
Morgan's injury was the only blemish on a thoroughly professional performance by the Blues at Sardis Road, where they ran out 47-0 winners over Pontypridd.
Gary Powell opened the scoring after seven minutes, before Tom Riley, Mark Lewis and debutant Ryan Howells added tries in the first half, with the imperious Ben Blair kicking all four conversions.
Half time saw wholesale changes, with only Marc Stcherbina, Tom Riley and Ryan Howells left on the pitch from the first half side.
The Blues were reduced to 13 early in the second half, as Ryan Howells and Scott Roberts were sin binned, but Tal Selley still managed to run in for the half's first try. Scott Morgan and Daf Hewitt completed the scoring, and Dai Flanagan booted two conversions.
New signing Paul Tito said he was pleased with the match. "Everyone was trying their hardest and put the effort in which is a positive sign" said Tito.
"The squad are looking forward to building on that for next week. Pontypridd ripped in to us as we expected but our boys stood up to that.
"We kept a clean sheet, showed a good attitude and hopefully we can keep that attitude throughout the season."
